On May 8, 2012, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents selected University of North Georgia as the name of the university formed through the consolidation of North Georgia College & State University and Gainesville State College. The name change will be effective with the implementation of consolidation, planned for January 2013.* Over the next several months, the institutions will be developing the visual identity for University of North Georgia.
*The process to identify the name was informed by a series of small focus groups with stakeholders of each institution and an online survey that allowed broad input (see summary reports below).
